Using the 3D real time dredging display

In Hydromagic Dredging, the 3D real-time dredging displays allows you to view position of the vessel and the dredging equipment relative to the bottom. In order to show this 3D view you must have a 3D shape of your vessel or pontoon and a 3D shape of your dredging equipment (excavator or suction tube). 3D shapes can be configured in the configuration screen for "Dredger Segments".

You need to load a matrix containing the area's depth or elevation model of the area which is going to be dredged. When this data is not available, it can be created during the dredging progress by setting all initial values to zero (water surface).

Displaying the 3D display pane

If the 3D display pane isn't displayed after starting the software, it can be enabled by selecting the "3D Digging View" option from the "View" menu:

Supported 3D shapes

Hydromagic Dredging supports 3D shapes in either WaveFront OBJ or Sterolitography STL formats. In order to correctly show the exact location of the vessel and the dredging equipment (suction tube, excavator, etc), all shapes have to be in the correct dimensions. The shapes can be in meters, millimeters, feet or inches.

When configuring a shape, you can select the units, shape color, axes directions, shape origin and the pivot point which connects the current shape with the next one (for instance, the point on a excavator boom where the stick connects).
