CSV files

The raw data CSV export enables you to export portions of one or more raw data files as human-readable comma-separated value files. These files can be processed in Microsoft Excel or other third party software. Since records in Hydromagic raw data files have different time stamps, a separate file will be written for each record type. The following Hydromagic raw data records can be exported as CSV (ASCII) file(s):

  • POS - Position records - contains both WGS84 and projected coordinates;
  • GPS - GNSS status records - contains satellite count, fix quality, etc...;
  • DOP - GNSS DOP records - contains horizontal, overall and vertical DOP;
  • ERR - GNSS error statistics - contains error statistics calculated by GNSS receiver;
  • DPT - Depth records - high and low frequency depth measurements;
  • MOT - Motion records - heave, pitch and roll measurements;
  • BTM - Bottom records - advanced geotechnical parameters;
  • HDG - Heading records - true or magnetic heading measurements;
  • SPD - Speed records - vessel speed;
  • TID - Tide observation records - tide measurements manual or from probe;
  • SVS - Sound velocity records - measurements from a SV profiles;
  • ANN - Annotation records - echo sounder annotations or events;
  • SEN - Sensor records - other sensor data, like water temperature;

Starting the CSV export tool

The CSV export tool can only be started from the "Raw Data File Manager" in Hydromagic Survey. This option is not available in Hydromagic Dredging, since no raw data files are used in this application. First open the "Raw Data File Manager" by right-clicking the "Raw Data" folder in the "Project Explorer". From the pop-up menu which appears, select the "Manage Files..." option.

Right click the Raw Data folder and select Manage Files...
Right click the "Raw Data" folder and select "Manage Files...".

In the "Raw Data File Manager", multiple export options are offered, including HYPACK, SEG-Y, CSV and XTF format. Using the exporting tools, you can export one or more files. Select the raw data files you want to export and click the "Export CSV" button to start the CSV export tool.

Select output folder

Click the "Browse..." button to select in which folder the CSV files will be written. By default, the 'Exports' folder in your project map will be used unless you selected another folder previously. When one or more files already exist you will be notified. To force the replacement of existing files, check the 'Overwrite existing files without warning' checkbox.

Select file(s) to export

If you didn't select any files from the 'Raw Data File Manager' tool before opening the CSV export tool, you can select the files to export by clicking the 'Select...' button. From the window that opens, you can select the files to be exported by setting the checkboxes.

Select record type(s) to export

Since data records in Hydromagic raw data files are different and are not synchronized by time, a separate CSV file will be generated for each record type. To define which data you want to export, click the second "Select..." button (the button in the "Select Records" section).
